Bad pruning makes trees weaker, sicker, and uglier. We follow ANSI A300 pruning standards on every job — which is a fancy way of saying we don’t top trees, we don’t leave stubs, and we don’t take off more than the tree can handle in a single season.
Signs it might be time to call us
- Branches touching the roof, gutters, or siding
- Limbs scraping a vehicle every time you pull in
- Dead wood you can see from the ground
- A canopy so dense the lawn under it won’t grow
- A tree that’s gotten lopsided after a storm
- New construction — you want to keep a tree near work
How we do the work
Crown cleaning
Removing dead, dying, broken, and diseased branches — usually the single biggest health win for a mature tree.
Crown thinning
Selective removal to let light and wind pass through, reducing storm risk without changing the tree’s shape.
Weight reduction
Shortening over-extended limbs back to a lateral, so they don’t fail under their own weight or under ice.
Clearance pruning
Raising the canopy off the roof, driveway, garden, or right-of-way — without leaving an awkward silhouette.
If you’re thinking 'top the tree' — call us first. We can almost always get the result you want (smaller, safer, better-looking) with a proper reduction prune that won’t hurt the tree.
